Ongoing Class Schedule -- Winter Schedule

The Yoga Center hosts ongoing yoga classes that appeal to all levels of practitioners while also offering classes optimized for specific audiences, such as prenatal yoga. Kundalini Yoga is a deep and rich tradition, and you'll find that nearly every class teaches you something new, even after years of practice. Books and tapes are available to assist your studies at home. Please plan to arrive at least ten minutes prior to the start of the class.
Wear loose clothing... and, ideally, come on a light stomach-- avoiding eating at least one hour prior to class. For your own safety, and those around you, refrain from intoxicants and alcohol consumption prior to practicing yoga.

Classes are all back to original scheduling.

Kundalini Yoga is...

... a safe and comprehensive system of exercise, breath control and meditation, presented through our classes as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Increase strength and flexibility. Enhance and strengthen all body Systems. Build up immune protection and maintain a youthful appearance. Experience deep inner calm. Increase self-confidence and self-understanding. Become a happier person. Contact your inner self.

"The body is nothing but a timepiece with a little crystal of life energy in it which makes it run, and kundalini is that crystal. Kundalini is the coil that keeps your timepiece going. Without kundalini, nothing can exist." – Yogi Bhajan

A typical Kundalini Yoga class lasts about an hour and includes:

- Namaskara: Attuning to the Teacher Within for guidance during the class.
- Pranayama: Breathing practices, including long deep breathing, diaphragmatic breath control, and breath of fire. Proper breathing is a significant focus of each class because how you breathe affects every system in the body at the deepest levels.
- Stretching: Slow warm-up and cool-down stretches to the major muscle groups.
- Asana: Traditional yoga postures with powerful breathing practice.
- Yogic Theory: Each exercise is explained and its connection to the well-being and strength of the whole body is discussed. Often diet and lifestyle suggestions are offered.
- Meditation: Focusing the mind on a mantra, either silently or chanting.
- Deep Relaxation: A moment of guided relaxation follows most postures, and most classes end with a five to ten minute "layout."
